Nitrite/Nitrate Based Salt

Description

Molten salt baths are in widespread use for continuous curing (vulcanization) of rubber extrusions. Salt baths have advantages over alternate curing methods such as oils, hot air, & steam for several reasons:

  1. Molten salt has a high heat capacity and rate of heat exchange e.g. – six times that of air allowing for relatively shorter curing times.
  2. Salt curing systems are insulated units with low heat losses compared to air or steam.
  3. Salt is relatively inert and allows a range of temperatures suitable for the curing of a wide range of rubber extrusions. No swelling or surface attack happens as with alternate methods.
  4. Salt is 100% water soluble enabling easy clean-off.

PARCURE 275 is an eutectic mixture of nitrate/nitrite based inorganic salts used for this application. It is exceptionally fluid and chemically & thermal stable in the molten state when used within its working range.
